Challenge

In 2012, the London-based GEM Group embarked on an ambitious journey to expand its network. They introduced 12 new specialized TV channels, including three sports networks that broadcasted the live London 2012 Olympics. Additionally, they offered a diverse range of content categories such as movies, TV series, documentaries, and lifestyle programs.

As GEM prepared to launch its new array of networks, they recognized the need to create a unified visual identity that would captivate their audience. Time was of the essence, and GEM was determined to accomplish this task efficiently and effectively.

Approach

The decision to adopt a 3D strategy for GEM’s content was driven by the desire to create a luxurious and visually appealing experience for viewers. By using 3D elements, Persis Films aimed to capture the essence of gleam and elevate the brand’s visual identity.

The use of 3D technology allows for the creation of realistic and immersive visuals, which can enhance the overall viewing experience. It also provides the flexibility to showcase the content in a responsive, seamless, and scalable manner across different platforms.

By unifying the brand and programming look across all touchpoints, including motion, print, digital, and UI, GEM aimed to create a cohesive and consistent visual identity. This unified approach would help to strengthen the brand’s recognition and make it easily identifiable across various mediums.

The three Full HD GEM Sports channels offered by the GEM Group were indeed the most extensive sports networks for the Persian-speaking community. These channels provided comprehensive coverage of various sports events, including the Olympic Games, which were broadcasted live in the Persian language. With their commitment to delivering high-quality content, GEM Sports channels ensured that viewers could enjoy the live games in the highest HD quality available. This enhanced the viewing experience and allowed fans to immerse themselves in the excitement of their favorite sports.

Goal

To achieve the goal of celebrating GEM as the go-to destination for the best entertainment content in the Persian language, the affiliate package should be designed with a focus on scale and production value. The package should be dynamic and visually appealing, capturing the cinematic feel of the network and showcasing it at the local stations.

By the end of 2017, the GEM Group successfully expanded its reach to 52 free-to-air satellite channels. This milestone marked a significant achievement for the brand, as it allowed GEM to connect with a wider audience across different regions.

The GEM Group owes its existence to the visionary leadership of our dear friend, Saeed Karimian. He was an exceptional individual, known for his unwavering passion and relentless work ethic. Saeed’s unique management style and commitment to fostering innovation enabled the remarkable growth and success of the GEM Group.

Sadly, our beloved friend was tragically taken from us in the heart-wrenching assassination that occurred in Istanbul in 2017. We mourn the loss of this extraordinary man, and our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.

Saeed Karimian’s legacy will forever be felt within the GEM Group, as his indomitable spirit continues to inspire and guide us. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
